Resource orientated wastewater treatment

Solutions like the reuse of treated wastewater, the recovery of energy, the usage of the resource sewage sludge and source separation to improve treatment and recycling processes are discussed. It should be noted that different treatment processes also have a significant impact on the infrastructure systems in urban areas. For example, different sewers for gray and black water are conceivable or the introduction of a dual piping system with different water qualities. In addition, depending on the area, central and decentralized solutions must be compared. This work is currently ongoing. The aim is to find out which system is the most advantageous under different framework conditions.
